A heartbreaking event took place in Ulhasnagar, Thane, where a 38-year-old man slapped his 3-year-old niece “playfully,” causing her to fall and hit her head, which led to her death. In a panic, the man hid the girl’s body and later went with his sister to the police station, reporting her as missing.
On Wednesday, the man, along with his wife and a rickshaw puller, took the girl’s body to a remote area and attempted to burn it. This happened while many people were out voting in the Maharashtra Assembly elections. On Thursday, the body was discovered in the bushes near the Ulhasnagar Hill Line police station after a police search. A rickshaw puller found the body, leading the police to detain the two men involved in the disposal attempt.
During questioning, the accused confessed to trying to burn the body but claimed the girl’s death was an accident. They said they didn’t intend to kill her. The man admitted to hiding the body in panic and trying to cover up what had happened. Based on their confession and evidence, the police have arrested the suspects. Ulhasnagar’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sachin Gore, confirmed the arrest and said the investigation is still ongoing. The accused will soon be presented in court for further action.
