Two adventurous women, Michelle Dvorak from the USA and Fav Manners from the UK, got themselves in a bit of a jam after getting stuck at 6,015 meters on the Chaukhamba III peak. No joke, that’s a serious height.
They were stranded since October 3, but thankfully, they were rescued on Sunday morning. The District Disaster Management Centre sprang into action when they got the word. On Friday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) sent helicopters to search the tough terrain, but things really picked up when mountaineering pros from the State Disaster Response Force joined in on Saturday.
Turns out, these two were on a foreign expedition set up by the India Mountaineering Foundation. They ran into trouble when their gear fell during the climb, which put them in a tight spot. But hey, all’s well that ends well, and they’re now back on solid ground! Just shows that adventures can take some wild turns.
