The explosion caused chaos, with shoppers rushing for cover. Among the injured are three minors, all local residents. Security forces and medical teams quickly arrived, taking the injured to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar. A search operation has started to find the attackers.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the attack, saying, “There can be no justification for targeting innocent civilians.” He pointed out the recent rise in violence in the Valley and urged security forces to take strong action to restore safety for the people.

Earlier, on Saturday, security forces had killed a Lashkar commander named Usman, who had been active in the area for several years. He was reportedly involved in the killing of Inspector Masroor Wani last October. In that incident, two Central Reserve Police Force personnel and two policemen were also injured.
