Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Tuesday that 92% of the state’s caste survey is complete, marking a significant step in Congress’s ongoing push for social justice. Speaking at the Congress-led ‘Samvidhan Rakshak Abhiyaan’ event in Delhi, Reddy emphasized how the Constitution has been key to securing rights like education, jobs, and reservations for marginalized communities.

During his speech, Reddy paid tribute to key political leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Babasaheb Ambedkar, and Indira Gandhi, recognizing their role in shaping India’s social justice policies. He pointed out that Congress has always led the way in efforts to uplift the underprivileged, from the Agriculture Ceiling Act to securing citizens’ rights to education and voting. He also mentioned the party’s support for initiatives from leaders like Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao, including the Mandal Commission and women’s reservations in local governance.

The Chief Minister also credited Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Rahul Gandhi for their strong support of the caste census, a crucial tool for ensuring fair distribution of rights and resources. “Rahul Gandhi promised a caste census in Telangana, and we have completed 92% of the work,” Reddy stated, underscoring the importance of the survey for social equality.

Reddy also contrasted Congress’s commitment to the Constitution with what he described as the BJP’s efforts to weaken it. “There are two families in the country: Modi’s family, which seeks to destroy the Constitution, and Rahul Gandhi’s family, which is fighting to protect it,” he said. Reddy urged citizens to unite for the protection of the Constitution, calling it a cause that goes beyond politics.

Earlier in the day, Reddy met with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to congratulate her on her win in the Wayanad by-election. He also discussed state matters with Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu.
