The Himachal Pradesh government has ordered a CID investigation after snacks meant for Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu were mistakenly served to his security staff. This happened on October 21 during his visit to the CID headquarters, where samosas and cakes from Hotel Radisson Blue were brought in as refreshments for the Chief Minister. However, a senior official’s report reveals that the snacks were accidentally handed over to Sukhu’s security personnel instead.

Some government officials have called the incident ‘anti-government,’ suggesting it was done on purpose. The mistake has caused political fallout, with the opposition BJP taking the opportunity to criticize the Congress-led government. BJP spokesperson Randhir Sharma pointed out that the government seemed more interested in dealing with the samosa mix-up than focusing on important issues like state development. He added that this embarrassing incident, tied to a high-profile event for the Chief Minister, has hurt the reputation of the state government.

While the government has ordered a formal investigation, the political consequences of the incident are still unfolding, with the opposition raising concerns about administrative failures.
