During the 115th episode of his Mann Ki Baat radio talk, Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned people about “digital arrest” scams. He made it clear that no government agency will investigate through phone or video calls, and he stressed the importance of awareness to fight these scams. Modi mentioned that investigative agencies are working with state governments to tackle this issue.
He explained that scammers pretend to be officials from agencies like the police, CBI, and RBI, tricking victims with confidence. Modi encouraged citizens to be proactive in stopping cyber scams and called on schools to run awareness campaigns.
Modi shared three key steps to stay safe: First, stay calm and try to record the conversation; second, remember that no government agency will threaten you online; and third, take action by calling the national cyber helpline at 1930 and notifying the police.
Celebrating Heritage
Modi also talked about the upcoming celebrations for the 150th birthdays of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and freedom fighter Birsa Munda. He urged everyone to take part in these events, noting that both figures faced tough challenges but shared a common vision for the country. The celebrations for Patel will kick off on October 31, while Munda’s will start on November 15.
The Prime Minister reflected on his visit to Ulihatu village, where Munda was born, last year. He also mentioned World Animation Day on October 28, expressing his hope for India to become a leader in animation. Modi pointed out that Indian animation studios are now partnering with big companies like Disney and Warner Brothers, producing original content that showcases India’s culture.
He wrapped up by discussing the growing popularity of virtual reality tourism, affirming that the animation sector is becoming a strong industry that supports various other fields.
