Chennai’s about to get hit with some serious rain, and the government isn’t taking any risks. They’ve shut down schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu starting October 15. Plus, they’re advising IT companies to let their teams work from home until October 18. Sounds smart, right?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has thrown out an orange alert, expecting heavy to very heavy rain especially from October 14-15. There’s a low-pressure area forming in the southeast Bay of Bengal that’s set to move towards northern Tamil Nadu and nearby regions.

Emergency Preparations

To handle any flooding that might come our way, officials are on high alert. The Chief Minister had a meeting to check the situation, and they’ve got a solid game plan. They’re ready with 990 pumps, 57 tractors, and 36 motorboats, plus a bunch of cleaning supplies just in case. Talk about being prepared!
