Big changes are coming for Class 12 board results! NCERT’s new plan means that your grades from Classes 9, 10, and 11 will now count towards your final Class 12 score. This new idea, dropped in the July report called ‘Establishing Equivalence across Education Boards,’ is all about making things fairer and more balanced.

The report suggests splitting the school year into two terms and changing how grades are weighted. For example, in Class 9, formative assessments (like ongoing tests) make up 7% and summative assessments (like end-of-term exams) make up 30%. But by Class 12, it flips to 30% formative and 70% summative. This shows how end-term exams become more important as you get older.

The new system focuses on a full view of your progress with methods like Portfolio Assessments, Peer Reviews, Project Work, and Group Discussions. These are all aimed at giving a better overall picture of what you can do, not just how you do on final exams.

Term assessments will also include various question types to match learning goals, making sure everything is fair and aligned with what you’re supposed to learn.
