The BCAS recently gathered the top dogs from our domestic airlines to tackle a serious issue, hoax bomb threats that have been causing quite a stir. With over 70 flights targeted recently, things are getting tense.
During their meeting at the Airports Authority of India in Delhi, BCAS chief Zulfiquar Hasan assured airline CEOs that all necessary security measures are in place. Safety is a big deal, especially with these hoax calls popping up everywhere. Just last Saturday, over 30 flights were threatened!
And it’s not just empty threats. A note claiming a bomb was found in the bathroom of one flight. Talk about travel stress. The Mumbai Police have already arrested a 17-year-old linked to threats against three flights leaving Mumbai.
On top of that, the police are collaborating with VPN services and social media platforms to trace these messages, which is tricky given how VPNs hide user locations. Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry is considering some hard-hitting rules, including a no-fly list for anyone caught making these reckless hoax threats. It’s a chaotic time in the skies, and keeping travelers safe is more important than ever.
