PMI Electro Mobility, a leading maker of electric buses, has signed a major deal with Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) to supply 250 electric buses. These buses will be 12 meters long, air-conditioned, and equipped with the latest technology to provide passengers with a comfortable, safe, and environmentally friendly ride.
The buses will start arriving in the September quarter of FY26, in several batches. They will run across different routes in Mumbai and nearby suburbs, improving the city’s transport system. The buses are expected to help reduce carbon emissions by around 300,000 tonnes and cut down diesel use by over 125 million liters over their 12-year lifespan.
Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility Solutions, highlighted that these electric buses offer excellent performance, safety, and reliability while providing a greener alternative for urban transport. This project supports India’s goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2070. Mumbai is following in the footsteps of Nagpur, which already has 144 electric buses, making it the second city in Maharashtra to adopt this eco-friendly transport solution.
PMI Electro Mobility is already a leader in India’s electric bus market, with a fleet of over 1,700 buses operating in 31 cities across the country, from Leh to Kerala. The company manufactures over 2,500 electric buses annually and offers a wide range of models, including 7-meter, 9-meter, and 12-meter buses, making it one of the largest electric bus manufacturers in India.
