On Monday, leftist groups and their supporters gathered for a big protest against Israel’s military actions in Palestine. The demonstrators were super vocal about India’s role in sending arms to Israel, which they think makes things worse. They described Israel’s actions as a “murderous attack” on Gaza, and pointed out that it’s spilling over into Lebanon too.
Concerns Over Civilian Safety
The protesters are really highlighting the humanitarian crisis caused by these military operations, pointing out that international laws clearly say you can’t target hospitals and shelters where women and kids are. But they’re saying Israel’s air and ground attacks have totally ignored these rules, leading to awful outcomes for innocent people.
Calls for Change
A lot of people in the crowd were furious about the destruction happening in Lebanon, arguing that Israel is using the excuse of going after Hezbollah to justify all the damage. A major part of their protest was the call for India to stop sending arms to Israel immediately, saying it’s basically complicit in what they see as genocide.
Among the speakers key figures were CPI(M) district secretary K. Sriram, CPI district secretary R. Sadaiyappan, and CPI(ML) district secretary M. Sundar Raj.
