Looma News

It’s been a super rainy weekend in Kerala. The heavy rains started rolling in Sunday night because of a cyclonic circulation chilling over the area. Malappuram is the champ with a crazy 15 cm of rain in just 24 hours. That’s some serious rain!

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is on top of it, issuing an orange alert for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. They’re bracing for some serious downpours. And if that’s not enough, six other districts from Pathanamthitta to Thrissur are on yellow alert for isolated heavy showers.

But it looks like this rainy vibe isn’t going anywhere soon. The IMD is warning about a low-pressure area that might form over Lakshadweep and the Arabian Sea, which means even more rain could be on the way. So, better grab those umbrellas, people! The forecast shows we’re in for some wild weather in south and central Kerala over the next few days.

Other places are feeling the rain too! Irikkur in Kannur got 13 cm, and Angadipuram and Kannur airport each recorded 10 cm. Even Thiruvananthapuram airport saw 8 cm. Urumi in Kozhikode stole the show with 13.5 cm by Monday evening!

Stay safe and keep an eye on those alerts if you’re in the rain zones.
