Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar criticized the BJP for copying Congress policies amid the argument over election promises. He said, “They’re copying us,” highlighting that the BJP has taken on measures similar to those of Congress in Madhya Pradesh and started similar actions in Haryana. Shivakumar noted that the BJP’s actions show embarrassment but also show their dependence on Congress-style policies.
Talking about Karnataka’s financial situation, Shivakumar claimed that the state’s finances are better than the national average. “Who says we are facing financial issues?” he asked, expressing confidence in the state’s economic health.
The debate heated up when Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the Karnataka government after Shivakumar suggested reviewing the Shakti scheme, which offers free bus rides for women. Later, Chief Minister Siddaramiah dismissed Shivakumar’s comments.
Prime Minister Modi reacted by calling Congress’s promises “unreal” on social media, highlighting the party’s history of failing to deliver. He stated, “The Congress Party is realizing the hard way that making unreal promises is easy but keeping them is tough or impossible.” Modi accused Congress of repeatedly not delivering on their promises, leaving them vulnerable in front of the public.
Kharge fired back by dismissing the BJP’s 100-day plan as a “cheap PR stunt” and pointed out several instances where he believes the BJP has not kept its promises. He described the NDA government as marked by “lies, deceit, fakery, loot, and publicity,” escalating the ongoing political clash.
