What’s Going Down

Big news for Jharkhand students. The government is stepping up support for those wanting to study abroad by doubling the scholarships available through the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship scheme. Thanks to a recent cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the number of spots is going from 25 to 50 each year. This includes 20 for scheduled tribes, 10 for scheduled castes, 14 for OBCs, and 6 for minority communities. It’s an awesome chance for these students to chase their dreams and gain some international experience.

But that’s not all! The cabinet also gave the green light for new modular operation theatres in state-run medical colleges and hospitals, with a budget of Rs 35.69 crore. Plus, they approved the construction of Jharkhand Bhawan in Navi Mumbai, which is expected to cost around Rs 136.95 crore. This seven-story building will help provide medical care for economically disadvantaged folks and laborers in the busy city.

During the briefing, Chief Minister Soren didn’t hold back on critiquing the BJP’s Gogo scheme, which offers Rs 2,100 to women. He called it a “deceptive tactic,” showing he’s not afraid to scrutinize such programs. While he stayed tight-lipped about the recent elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, it’s clear these discussions are influencing the political scene in Jharkhand.
