The Enforcement Directorate (ED) just summoned K Meghachandra Singh, the Manipur Congress chief, to talk about a money laundering probe. But not everyone’s happy about it. Senior Congress guy Jairam Ramesh jumped in, saying this is just a ploy for “political vendetta.” He thinks it’s a blatant attempt to silence Singh, who hasn’t held back in criticizing the BJP and its bigwigs.
The summons was sent out on October 3, asking Singh to show up in New Delhi on Monday. But guess what? Singh didn’t make it because he said he got the notice just that morning, so he had no time to prepare. “I don’t get why the ED is coming after me; I’m just an MLA, not a minister!” he said, clearly confused.
On top of all this, Manipur Congress spokesperson N Bupendra Meitei took to social media to back Singh, saying the party plans to fight back legally. Looks like things are heating up between Congress and the BJP in Manipur, with Singh being pretty vocal against Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his crew.
