On Sunday, a tremor measuring 3.4 in magnitude was felt in Kutch district, Gujarat, as reported by the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). It happened at 3:58 AM, with the epicenter located 53 kilometers north-northeast of Lakhpat. Officials confirmed there were no injuries or damage from this tremor.
Before this event, a 3.7 magnitude tremor was recorded in the Amreli district on October 27. Gujarat is known for its seismic activity and has experienced nine major earthquakes in the last two centuries, according to the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA).
The most notable recent event was the 2001 Kutch earthquake, which was both the third largest and second most destructive earthquake in India in the last 200 years. This quake struck on January 26, 2001, at a magnitude of 6.9, near Bhachau in Kutch. It led to about 13,800 deaths and around 167,000 injuries, according to GSDMA data.
