A Zomato warehouse in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, was inspected by food safety officials on October 29, revealing serious violations. Reports indicated that 18 kilos of button mushrooms were labeled with a future packaging date of October 30, 2024.
While the warehouse operated with valid licenses displayed prominently, it lacked essential insect-proof screens. This omission allowed houseflies to infest the premises. Additionally, some food handlers were not following hygiene rules, as they were found without haircaps and aprons.
Despite these issues, the Food Business Operator (FBO) maintained appropriate medical fitness certificates for food handlers and documented pest control measures. Zomato has not yet commented on the findings of the inspection.
