The bus, which was traveling from Delhi to Azamgarh, collided with a truck from behind, causing the bus to shatter on impact. The collision trapped passengers inside the bus, resulting in the deaths of five people.
In addition to the fatalities, 15 others were injured in the crash. Among the injured were an 11-month-old girl, a five-year-old child, three women, and nine men. Local residents, witnessing the aftermath, acted quickly by breaking the bus windows and rescuing the survivors. They were then rushed to Kailash Hospital in Jewar for treatment.
Authorities responded swiftly to the scene, with local police reaching the site of the accident and sending the bodies to the mortuary for postmortem. Three of the victims have been identified, while two remain unidentified. The bus was operated by Krishna Travels, a company based in Faizabad.
