A mix-up at Lucknow’s international airport caused confusion when a seven-month-old dead foetus was mistakenly delivered, sparking panic. The foetus, which was initially thought to be an infant’s body, was actually meant to be transported to Mumbai by road for medical testing related to a failed IVF treatment. However, it was accidentally sent to the airport instead.

The foetus was being sent for testing to find out why the IVF procedure had failed. Assistant Commissioner of Police Saumya Pandey from Krishnanagar explained that the foetus had been sent by a couple who underwent IVF, but the pregnancy had ended in failure. The mistake happened when the courier company mistakenly sent the foetus to the airport instead of arranging road transport. Airport authorities quickly raised the issue after scanning the package.

Authorities questioned the courier agent and contacted the couple, who explained that the foetus was being sent for medical examination in Mumbai. Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, the foetus was returned to the courier company. Police confirmed that the error was entirely the courier’s fault and ruled out any criminal activity. No charges were filed.

In the end, despite the confusion and media attention, the police confirmed there was no foul play, and the foetus was returned to its intended destination.
