Anirudh Reddy, a Congress MLA from Telangana, has stirred up a debate by asking the state government to pass a resolution that would ban Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders from entering Telangana. Reddy’s request came after the Tirumala temple turned away recommendation letters from Telangana MLAs. He mentioned that if the resolution is approved, the leaders will “understand the pain” this situation has caused.

Reddy criticized a previous statement from the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which said the temple would not accept any letters from Telangana. He pointed out Naidu’s claim of having “two eyes” for both regions, questioning his commitment to Telangana’s needs. Reddy noted that while arrangements are often made for Andhra leaders visiting Telangana temples, Telangana MLAs face different treatment.

The issue intensified with Naidu’s claims about using contaminated ghee, mixed with animal fat, in the laddus at the Venkateswara temple during the YSR Congress government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. Reddy remarked that the historical advantages Andhra parties received from Telangana were never challenged, suggesting that if the leaders agreed to a ban, they would better understand the grievances.

A high-level investigation, started by the Supreme Court, is currently underway to examine the allegations regarding the temple practices.
