B. M. Mumtaz Ali, a 52-year-old businessman and brother of former Congress MLA B. A. Mohiuddin Bava, went missing in Mangaluru. It all started early Sunday when his car was found all banged up near the Kuloor bridge on National Highway 66. Word is, he might’ve jumped into the Phalguni river, and now there’s a big search operation going on.

According to Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, Ali left home around 3 a.m. and was driving around before crashing into another car. By 5 a.m., he parked his ride by the bridge, and that’s the last anyone’s seen him. The Karnataka State Disaster Response Force and Indian Coast Guards are all hands on deck trying to find him.

What We Know So Far

Right before he went missing, Ali sent a voice note to his family’s WhatsApp group saying he wouldn’t come back home. Cops are still trying to figure out what went down, but it sounds like family drama might be at play. They’ve checked out the abandoned car for any hints about what happened.

Ali’s known for his charitable work and was super active in the community, even helping out at local mosques. He’s one of three brothers, and his other sibling is former JD(S) MLC B. M. Farooq. His disappearance has got the community worried, and if anyone’s feeling low or has thoughts of hurting themselves, they should definitely reach out for help.
