Tamil actor Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), met on Sunday and decided to oppose the Centre’s ‘One Nation One Election’ plan. They also called for the end of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in Tamil Nadu. During the meeting, TVK criticized the DMK government for not conducting a caste survey and for blaming the Centre for this issue.

The party expressed disappointment with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, claiming that the DMK’s promises during elections were misleading and aimed at gaining power. Vijay, who started TVK in February, held his first political rally in Villupuram on October 27. At this rally, he shared his party’s ideas, focusing on equality, social justice, and secularism. He also pushed for Tamil to be the main language in courts and suggested removing the Governor’s position.

Vijay pointed out that his party’s approach includes aspects of Dravidianism and Tamil nationalism, which he believes are key to the region’s identity. He wants TVK to be inclusive and promote broader values like justice, unity, and social progress. Vijay announced that his party plans to take part in the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
