In a recent ruling, a Delhi court said no to letting the CEO of Rau’s IAS Study Circle back into the building where three IAS hopefuls drowned last month. The court pointed out big issues with safety and misuse of the building. After the drowning incident in July, the building was sealed because of flooding in the basement. Despite complaints and a notice from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the building was still being used improperly and lacked proper fire safety measures.

The CEO’s request to reopen was shot down by both the public prosecutor and the victims’ lawyer, who highlighted ongoing investigations and safety problems. Even though the request was denied, the court allowed students to keep up with their classes at different sites. The case, which includes several arrests and continuing investigations, is now with the Central Bureau of Investigation for a fair probe.
