The report also highlights a big jump in the use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools, which have moved from being experimental to mainstream. A large part of the workforce is using these tools for tasks like coding, programming, and content creation. Many students are also using GenAI to improve their learning, communication skills, and explore AI’s full potential.

The future of work is mostly hybrid, but more companies are seeing people return to the office. The time spent in offices has gone up by 1.2 times, as employees are looking for better team connections, collaboration, and learning opportunities. The report notes that leadership involvement, role-specific needs, and customer expectations are all shaping this change.

Gen Z and millennials still make up most of the tech workforce. When choosing an employer, they focus on things like company values, growth opportunities, job satisfaction, and career development. Work-life balance and job security are also big factors in deciding whether to stay with a company.

Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Nasscom, said that as the work environment keeps changing, companies need to create flexible policies that can keep up with these shifts in the workforce. Advances in AI and ML are changing the job market, affecting both technical and soft skills.
