Four railway contract workers lost their lives after being hit by the Kerala Express near Shornur in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Saturday. The crash took place around 3 pm when the train, headed for Thiruvananthapuram, collided with the workers who were clearing garbage from the tracks.
The victims included two men and two women, all working for the Railways. An officer from the Shornur Railway Police mentioned that the workers might not have seen the train coming, but the investigation is still ongoing to clarify what happened.
Emergency services managed to recover three bodies from the scene, while a search is currently underway for the fourth worker, who is believed to have fallen into the nearby Bharathapuzha River.
