Management consultant Gurjot Ahluwalia recently shared a viral post comparing $3 million real estate options in India and the US. He pointed out the big differences in what buyers can get for the same money in both countries.

In India, $3 million (around Rs 25 crore) can buy a luxurious 5,000 sq ft apartment in DLF The Magnolias in Gurgaon’s Sector 42. This place comes with amenities like a swimming pool, gym, spa, and green spaces.

On the other hand, in the US, $2.85 million can get you a 6-room penthouse with stunning views of the New York skyline, including the Empire State Building. This penthouse is 4,511 sq ft and features a double rooftop terrace, a private guest house, and multiple bathrooms, along with hardwood floors and central air conditioning.

The post sparked a variety of reactions on social media. Many users agreed with Ahluwalia’s view that Indian real estate prices are too high. One user shared their experience comparing prices in the US, noting that a nice 3 BHK bungalow near Washington DC costs only Rs 4-5 crore, emphasizing the strange nature of Indian prices.

Some people highlighted the benefits of living in New York, mentioning a better quality of life and more opportunities than in Gurgaon. However, others felt that Ahluwalia’s comparison was too simplistic, noting that many wealthy people own homes in both places. There were also critiques regarding the costs and security of New York real estate, including high taxes and homeowner association fees.
