The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved a plan to supply three LPG cylinders for free each year, starting this Deepavali. This initiative aligns with the government’s election promise and has an estimated cost of ₹2,700 crore.
Chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati, the Cabinet decided that people will receive one cylinder every four months. Those who have already paid for their cylinders will have the option to get a refund directly into their bank accounts.
Additionally, the Cabinet removed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and fees related to the free sand supply policy, even though it may impact the state’s budget.
The Cabinet also discussed how to celebrate Andhra Pradesh’s formation day, taking into account different views since the split that formed Telangana in 2014. Furthermore, the government plans to turn the area hospital in Mangalagiri into a 100-bed facility with better medical services.
