Rapido has announced its partnership with IndoFast Energy, a collaboration between IndianOil and SUN Mobility, to introduce 10,000 Piaggio electric vehicles (EVs) with swappable batteries across India. This effort aims to boost Rapido’s electric vehicle lineup and promote eco-friendly transportation in major cities.
IndoFast Energy plans to set up over 100 battery swapping stations in Hyderabad and more than 200 in Bangalore by the end of December 2024. This project will help integrate these electric vehicles into Rapido’s daily operations, improving efficiency.
Piaggio’s E-City Max electric vehicles, along with SUN Mobility’s battery swapping technology, provide longer ranges and less downtime. By the end of 2024, over 1,000 EVs are expected to hit the roads in southern India, starting in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and other key cities.
This collaboration follows a successful pilot in 2023, conducted in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi, which aimed to make electric vehicles more convenient for public transport.
