These guys were struggling with awful crop yields of paddy and cotton, and couldn’t handle their debts anymore. For example, P. Raju from Jangaon took his life over his losses, while K. Sambamurthy from Hanamkonda faced similar problems. Then there’s K. Somla Naik from Mahabubnagar, who was devastated because he didn’t get the loan waiver that was promised.
Why It Matters
Rama Rao’s big point? He believes the Congress government is ignoring farmers’ needs by cutting back on support and welfare programs that used to help them out. He argues that the current administration is making it tougher for farmers to get by, especially with all the challenges they face in agriculture.
