A bogus State Bank of India branch was busted in Sakti, Chhattisgarh. This fake gig tricked a bunch of job seekers into coughing up cash for jobs that didn’t exist. It all kicked off when a dude named Manoj Agrawal tried to set up an SBI kiosk in Dabhra and noticed something was off at the Chapora village branch, so he alerted the real SBI folks.

The cops got involved and found zero legit banking docs! The fake branch manager bailed, leaving behind a bunch of computers and training stuff for five employees, all hired with sketchy appointment letters. Major scam vibes!

Sakti SDOP Manish Kumar Dhruv confirmed they uncovered a fake seal and docs pretending to be from SBI’s Raipur office. They’ve filed a case under several IPC sections and are on the hunt for the crooks.

Victims of the Scam

Sadly, quite a few people got duped. Like, Sangeeta Kavar from Korba lost a jaw-dropping Rs 2.5 lakh, and Lakshmi Yadav from the same spot got scammed out of Rs 2 lakh. Pintu Maravi from Kawardha lost Rs 5.8 lakh, and Parmeshwar Rathore from Korba lost Rs 3 lakh. The police are checking out two middlemen, Rekha Sahu and Mandhir Das, who supposedly took cash from these victims.

The investigation is still rolling, and it’s a serious wake-up call to be smart and double-check any job offers before handing over your cash.
