A thief in Prayagraj couldn’t shake off his guilt after stealing a century-old idol. Just days after the heist from the Ram Janaki temple, he ditched the idol on the side of the road, leaving behind an apology letter that really showed how sorry he was.
The idol, made of Ashtadhatu and dedicated to Swami Jai Ramdas Maharaj, went missing on September 23, leaving the temple community in shock. The priest was so affected that he even went on an indefinite fast to protest.
Fast forward ten days, and some folks found the idol in a sack along the Gaughat link road. Not only was the idol there, but so was the thief’s emotional letter. He wrote, “Maharaj ji, I messed up big time. Since I stole the idol of Radha Krishna, I’ve been having nightmares, and my son’s health is suffering.” He admitted he took it for money, but the guilt just got too heavy.
Once the priest got the idol back, he happily put it back in its place, bringing some normalcy back to the temple. Meanwhile, the police are digging through CCTV footage, trying to figure out who this thief is. It’s a reminder that sometimes guilt can really change a person’s heart.
