On Saturday evening in Kengeri, Bengaluru, a 30-year-old woman named Sandhya was struck and killed by a speeding Mercedes Benz. The car, driven by 20-year-old Dhanush, was found to have been driven under the influence of alcohol. Reports say Sandhya was trying to cross the road when Dhanush lost control of the car and hit her, causing the fatal accident.
After the crash, Dhanush attempted to escape but was quickly caught by bystanders, who reportedly beat him before handing him over to the police. Dhanush was arrested by the Kengeri traffic police and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He has been sent to jail for 14 days.
It was revealed that Dhanush’s father, Veera Shiva, owns a private bus company and had recently bought the Mercedes Benz. Dhanush had gone out for drinks with a friend to a mall near Yeshwanthpur. After drinking, they decided to drive down Mysuru Road, where the fatal accident occurred.
In a separate incident, a 26-year-old delivery boy was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Gavipura on November 2. The boy, who was on his way to pick up his wife, was struck by a speeding car while riding his bike on MV Seetharamaiah Road around 10:20 pm. The car involved in the crash fled the scene, leaving the delivery boy dead.
